The next billion developers won't start on a laptop.

In Mumbai, Lagos, Jakarta, Manila — the first computer for a kid getting into code is a phone. And every "modern" coding tool today assumes a desktop. We're building the one that doesn't.

Why we exist

The AI coding boom of 2024-2026 happened almost entirely on desktop. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Replit Agent, Windsurf, Bolt — all great products, all desktop-first. That's a reasonable assumption in San Francisco. It's the wrong assumption almost everywhere else.

The numbers we keep coming back to:

• ~28M software developers globally per GitHub's 2024 numbers — projected to hit 45M by 2030.
• ~35M developers in India alone including students and self-taught (NASSCOM, IBEF) — growing > 25% YoY.
• 75-80% of Indian Gen-Z and Millennial developers are smartphone-first. They code in college on a shared family laptop and continue on their phone at home.

These developers aren't poorly served. They're unserved. Acode and Termux are local-only text editors. Pydroid runs Python locally with no AI and no cloud sandboxes. Replit's mobile app is read-only. Cursor doesn't ship Android. There is no Cursor-like AI code editor on a phone — until now.

What we believe

Three things, in order:

1. Mobile UX is harder than it looks. Soft keyboards, Android lifecycle quirks, Play Store billing rules, on-device model size constraints. Every detail compounds. We've shipped 28 sprints over six months getting these right.
2. The free tier should be a real product. Not "5 free runs then pay" — that's a paywall in a t-shirt. Free OffCoder ships with on-device AI (Qwen-Coder + Phi-mini via fllama) and a local JS runtime. Code on the bus, code in airplane mode. Don't pay until you want cloud-class features.
3. India first. Then the world. The market we're building for has the highest concentration of the user we want to serve. Win there, then expand.

Where we are

V1 is feature-complete. The full stack — Flutter mobile, Node/TypeScript backend, Postgres + Redis, Docker-isolated runtime sandboxes, Stripe billing with full audit trail, Google + GitHub + GitLab + Bitbucket + LinkedIn OAuth, admin dashboard — is built and tested. We're in the launch-prep phase: legal review, Play Store assets, production deployment.

Bootstrapped, pre-seed. No outside capital yet — that constraint forced product clarity.

Where we're going

India launch Q3 2026 via Play Store. Tier 1 capacity is 2,000 monthly active users at launch, scaling to 10k within six months. iOS and global expansion follow. Pricing is two parallel tracks (Managed AI + BYOK) so users can pick their AI relationship — we never lock-in.
